Introducing PokerDrill: AI Poker Training With Spaced Repetition

PokerDrill - AI poker training with spaced repetition featuring cards and brain

What is PokerDrill?

PokerDrill is an AI-powered poker training app that uses spaced repetition to help you internalize poker strategy. Think Duolingo, but for poker decisions. You get short scenario-based drills covering preflop ranges, c-bet strategy, pot odds, bet sizing, bluff catching, position play, river decisions, and tournament ICM.

Each drill presents a realistic poker situation. You pick your action. The AI explains why the correct play works, in plain English. Get it right, and the scenario shows up less often. Get it wrong, and it comes back sooner. That’s the SM-2 algorithm at work: it schedules reviews at the exact interval where you’re about to forget.

Why spaced repetition for poker?

Most poker training is passive. You watch a video, read a strategy article, maybe nod along. Two weeks later, you’re at the table and can’t remember whether to 3-bet from the cutoff with AJs or just call.

The problem isn’t that the information was bad. It’s that you never practiced retrieving it under pressure. Spaced repetition fixes this by forcing active recall at increasing intervals. It’s the same technique medical students use to memorize 20,000 flashcards. It works because your brain strengthens neural pathways each time you successfully retrieve information, not each time you passively read it.

PokerDrill applies this to poker scenarios. Instead of reading about pot odds, you calculate them in context. Instead of watching someone explain a c-bet, you decide whether to fire on a specific board texture. The scenarios adapt to your weak spots: if you keep misplaying river decisions, the system drills you on rivers more often.

How it works

  • Daily drills: Open the app, run through your queue. Five drills a day on the free tier, unlimited on Pro.
  • AI explanations: Every scenario comes with a plain English breakdown of the optimal play. No GTO solver output, no unexplained charts.
  • XP, streaks, and levels: Gamification keeps you coming back. Your streak counter resets if you skip a day.
  • 8 categories: Preflop ranges, c-bet strategy, pot odds, bet sizing, bluff catching, position play, river decisions, tournament ICM.
  • Adaptive difficulty: The AI generates new scenarios based on your performance. Scenarios you master fade away; scenarios you struggle with keep appearing.

Who is this for?

PokerDrill is built for recreational and semi-serious poker players who want to improve but don’t have hours to study solver output. If you play home games, local tournaments, or low/mid-stakes online and you know your fundamentals need work, this is for you.

Already tracking your live sessions? PokerTracker pairs well with PokerDrill: track your hands in real time during tournaments, then drill the spots where you leaked chips.
